The Civil Site Supervisor is responsible for the technical aspects of the construction project. The role ensures technical competence of the final project output, delivered to the quality standards outlined in the inspection and test plans produced by the Site Engineer.
Key duties include setting out, checking the quality of others’ setting out, checking trade contractor output, surveying structures/buildings/infrastructure, and installing primary and secondary controls for setting out and surveying.
The role also includes overseeing civil subcontractors, managing site safety, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring project delivery meets relevant scopes of work, contract design, specifications, and regulations.
A strong technical background is required, with experience in problem solving, communication, and holding a relevant civil engineering degree.
The Civil Site Supervisor will have temporary works experience, particularly as a Temporary Works Coordinator, working to BS 5975, producing design briefs, and managing the temporary works schedule. Knowledge of scaffolding, cofferdams, drainage, trench boxes, manhole boxes, sheet piles, access tracks, structural RC works, drainage, highways, and installation of EHV ducting is beneficial (training provided).
Including but not limited to the following:
Ensure construction is installed correctly and technically compliant.
Use a Total Station to set out and check engineering quality.
Set up primary and secondary control using fixed benchmarks, reflective targets, prisms, and adhesive targets.
Use engineering surveying equipment such as Leica, Topcon, Trimble, etc.
GPS experience beneficial (but not relied upon).
Use an engineer’s level and staff to undertake level surveys.
Produce surveys and coordinates (X, Y, Z) in paper, digital, and model formats.
Interpret drawings and specifications to confirm works comply with inspection and test plans.
Question and challenge contractor quality where required.
Issue Non-Conformance Reports when standards are not met.
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, local authorities, and internal teams to ensure works meet design and specification requirements.
Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, reports, and site documentation.

Minimum 4 years’ experience working on sites operating from 132kV to 400kV and completion of the Omexom Supervisor’s Course.
Must also possess:
Basic reading, writing, and maths skills
Relevant accreditations for the role
Good understanding of drawings and documents
Required level of training, experience & qualifications as outlined by Omexom
Computer literacy in line with Omexom systems
Commercial awareness
Knowledge of substation health & safety procedures

CSCS
