Are you an experienced Sales Manager who thrives on driving performance and developing high-energy sales teams?
Black Sheep Utilities is looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join our Brighton-based Business Development Team.
The Role
As a Sales Manager at Black Sheep, you will manage a team of Business Development Executives, driving daily performance across key metrics including call activity, quality, bookings, and conversion.
You will develop your team through structured 1:1s, call listening, and targeted feedback, ensuring consistent standards and continuous improvement. Your leadership will help create a focused, motivated environment where high standards and strong results are the norm.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead daily morning huddles to set focus, priorities and maintain the teams energy, KPIs and focus for the day.
- Set targets for direct reports and performance-manage to ensure individual targets are met.
- Identify skills and knowledge gaps and agree practical development actions to close them.
- Coach team members on script delivery, call quality and sales techniques, addressing underperformance through call listening, role-play and best-practice demonstrations.
- Resolve escalations from the team to keep processes compliant and consistent.
- Manage people matters, including attendance, lateness and absence, in line with company policy.
- Design incentives and competitions, using your budget to reward performance and drive target over-achievement.
- Report departmental performance, risks and support needed to Senior Managers.
- Conduct regular script reviews.
- Uphold company values day to day by setting high standards, leading by example and reinforcing core objectives.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on people manager who knows how to get the best out of a sales team. This role is designed for someone who already has the fundamentals and can take ownership of performance day to day—coaching, holding standards, and driving consistent KPI delivery.
You will:
- Bring previous sales management experience in a KPI-driven, high-performance environment.
- Be resilient and action-oriented, working at pace to keep things moving whilst maintaining a motivational and positive attitude.
- Have experience of setting clear measurable targets and driving consistent delivery and over-achievement through your team. Provide constructive, supportive feedback to improve performance.
- Have experience of analysing performance data to spot trends and anomalies and act on them.
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills. Use Excel confidently to navigate and interpret performance reports.
- Be highly organised and self-motivated with a growth mindset.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and strong leadership standards.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven sales environment where performance and accountability are key.
Success in this role will mean: a motivated, accountable team consistently hitting call activity and booking targets while continuously improving call quality and conversion rates.

- Competitive Basic Salary, plus a monthly paid manager’s bonus scheme. £55,000-£65,000 OTE
