£19,192 - £19,493 Actual annual salary working 38 weeks per annum
33 hours p/w term time ONLY including 10 additional days
Opening Doors is a Community Interest Company established in collaboration with Greenacre School. We aim to provide a diverse timetable of activities to support young adults with learning difficulties to reach their potential. We work towards targets chosen by the service users and look to improve independence, life skills and communication to give young adults the best opportunities in life. Opening Doors supports young adults aged 19-35 to access the wider community, complete work experience, activities and attend leisure facilities.
As a Support worker you will play an important role in supporting the social and personal development of Service Users at this unique small provision in Barnsley. Our Service Users may have a range of additional needs. This role can include gathering resources for activities, planning activities, completing records, supporting and managing behaviour, supervising group activities and supporting service users' health and wellbeing.
THE CANDIDATE
Experience in a similar setting in a similar role
Experience working with younger people with additional needs
Ability to use a range of strategies to support positive behaviour and self-regulation
Strong communication and IT skills
Genuine interest and passion to make a difference in the lives of young people
SALARY/ HOURS Starting salary for this Support Worker role is £19,192 actual annual salary working 33 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 10 additional days (as agreed with the service manager out of term) + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust
