Job Summary

The Kitchen assistant is an important member of the team who helps provide a range of duties in healthcare setting. You will be part of a team offering a high quality, flexible and customer focused service. Our priority is to provide the very highest standard of cleanliness. You will be provided with appropriate training to ensure that you understand the principles of infection control, the importance of cleanliness in a healthcare setting and the standards that are to be met and maintained.

Professional Duties

• As a Kitchen Assistant you will be responsible for the following:
• Carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties to set procedures and standards. On the job training will be provided.
• Ensure infection control policies are adhered to
• Follow Nu-Gen policies & procedures.
• Work as part of a team, using a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst always maintaining a professional approach.
• Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas is maintained to the required standards
• Establish and maintain good working relationship and clear lines of communication with team managers, staff and all visitors.
• Ensure the correct, safe, and economical use of provisions, materials and equipment

Qualifications

Essential

• Demonstrate an understanding of the kitchen assistant role within a healthcare setting
• Able to work as a team
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to follow standardised cleaning schedules
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible
• Able to work in a high-pressure environment
• Able to work flexibly
• A good understanding of Nu-Gens values and behaviours and ability to demonstrate these values in the working day

Desirable

• NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning or equivalent
• Experience working in a healthcare setting
• Experience in cleaning protocols 
• Knowledge of infection control
• Knowledge of COSHH
• Previous kitchen experience
