Job Summary

The Cook is an important member of the team who is responsible for providing nutritious and balanced meals whilst working with residents and staff to ensure individuals dietary needs are met.

Key duties and Responsibilities

Professional Duties

As a Cook you will be responsible for the following:

• Developing healthy and balanced meals in consultation with residents and staff
• Preparing meals to meet individuals medical needs for example people with dysphagia or allergies
• Follow Nu-Gen policies & procedures. 
• Work as part of a team, using a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst always maintaining a professional approach.  
• Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas is maintained to the required standards 
• Establish and maintain good working relationship and clear lines of communication with team managers, staff and all visitors. 
• Ensure the correct, safe, and economical use of provisions, materials and equipment

Qualifications

Essential

• Demonstrate an understanding of the domestic assistant role within a healthcare setting
• Able to work as a team
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to follow standardised cleaning schedules
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible
• Able to work in a high-pressure environment
• Able to work flexibly
• A good understanding of Nu-Gens values and behaviours and ability to demonstrate these values in the working day

Desirable

• NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning or equivalent - desirable
• Experience working in a healthcare setting
• Experience in cleaning protocols
• Knowledge of infection control
• Knowledge of COSHH
• Previous Domestic Experience
