Youth Connect South West is a young people's charity working in Bath and North East Somerset and the surrounding area. We support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow and become the people they want to be.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to lead our Alternative Education Programme. This programme offers dynamic and flexible learning opportunities designed predominantly for young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who are unable to access mainstream education. These initiatives are delivered in partnership with Local Authorities and other education providers.
Key strategic responsibilities
· Provide strategic oversight and operational management of all Alternative Provision (AP) courses and SEND education services.
· Lead on developing new education provisions and ensure quality standards of all existing provision.
· Identify and create opportunities for young people to gain qualifications, develop essential skills, and progress towards employment, independence, and their personal goals.
The Head of Education will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow YCSW policies and the staff code of conduct.
Please note that this is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the role. It is not a comprehensive list of all tasks that the Head of Education will carry out.
We are an independent, non-profit charity dedicated to supporting young people across Bath, Somerset and beyond. We provide a wide range of opportunities for 11–25-year-olds, offering both universal and targeted support to help them thrive – whether that’s through youth work, 1:1 mentoring, careers advice or bespoke educational provision.
Our services are as varied as the young people we support. Alongside open-access youth spaces like our Bath City Centre Youth Space, Radstock Youth Hub and Southside Youth Centre, we deliver dynamic Alternative Education programmes for those who are unable to access mainstream education. These flexible and person-centred courses offer a vital route back into learning for young people experiencing anxiety, mental health challenges, disrupted schooling, or a loss of confidence in traditional education.
