The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible through the Merchant shipping act 1995 for the provision and control of a network of marine aids to navigation – lights, buoys, Racon, AIS beacons and a precision GPS augmentation service.

Headquartered in Edinburgh with our marine operations base in Oban, we are at the forefront of technical development in Aids to Navigation and the deployment of renewable energy in remote locations, we are constantly adapting and pursuing technical excellence, and we pride ourselves in providing an improving service to the shipping industry at reducing cost.
