OUTSTANDING SECONDARY TEACHER TRAINING IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

The Northampton Teacher Training Partnership (NTTP) is a long‑established School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider based in Northamptonshire. The vision of our SCITT is to train and develop high-quality teachers to meet the evolving needs of our local schools.

Why train with NTTP?

For more than 25 years, NTTP has delivered exceptional secondary teacher training across a diverse network of partnership schools. The majority of these are state secondary schools, many with thriving sixth forms. By completing placements in contrasting settings, trainees gain rich professional experience and leave the programme exceptionally well‑prepared for their first teaching post.

Our longstanding commitment to excellence was reaffirmed during a rigorous four‑day inspection in May 2024, in which NTTP was judged Outstanding.

Our programme

NTTP offers a one-year, full‑time secondary (11–16) teacher training programme, leading to the dual awards of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PCGE), subject to successful completion of all elements of the course.

Our programme provides the essential professional experiences, research-informed practice, and personalised coaching needed to become an effective teacher.

Centre-based training is delivered at Northampton School for Boys (NSB)—the Lead School of the Partnership—which was graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in March 2025. This high‑performing environment provides an excellent foundation for professional learning.

Diversity, equality and inclusion

NTTP is an inclusive partnership, and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We are committed to creating an inclusive training community where everyone feels supported and valued. We encourage applications from all individuals regardless of sex, sexual orientation, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, disability, or age.

Ongoing commitment to increasing Diversity in ITT

NTTP is proud to be part of the Increasing Diversity in Initial Teacher Training project, a four‑year national initiative funded by Mission 44. The project aims to remove systemic barriers faced by Global Majority Heritage (GMH) trainee teachers and strengthen inclusive practice across ITT providers.

Through this work, NTTP is contributing to a more diverse, representative, and inclusive teaching workforce, aligned with the project’s mission to create a fairer education system for all.

Our commitment to safeguarding

NTTP is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and trainees to uphold this commitment at all times.
