St John’s Hospice is a local charity which provides free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions. Our services cover a population area of 250,000 people in North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire. We have been caring for our community every minute of every day since 1986.
Our aim is to ensure that on the journey towards the end of life, we provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Our services focus on improving patients' symptoms, and end of life care. The hospice’s experienced team of specialists work together with our patients to make sure they are getting the care and support they need to live their life their way, as much as possible.
St John's offers free palliative care to patients with life shortening conditions both in our Inpatient Ward Unit and through our Community Services (Hospice at Home). The Hospice employs a wide variety of roles across our clinical services, and within our Catering, Housekeeping, Finance, Fundraising, Supporter Care, Reception, Admin and Volunteering teams. There are also 10 St John's Hospice Shops which can be found on high streets across the same area in which the Hospice serves.
Our care will always be free to those who need it, but it isn’t cost free. The Hospice receives around 25% of our core funding from the NHS, for the remaining 75% we rely on our amazing local community and fundraising efforts.
